MUSCLES: extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis, supinator
REFERRAL: Pain is felt in the lateral elbow
COMMENTS:
Tennis elbow
involves a strain of the wrist extensor attachments at the humerus.
Usually a few minutes of cross fiber frictioning right at the bone attachment will help to engage the
healing process. Remember to apply ice after frictioning to alleviate any
soreness after the session. I usually teach people to work on themselves
so they can resolve the issue themselves.
The test for tennis elbow is to extend your wrist against resistance (like the palm of your other hand pushing into the back of your wrist as you flex it).
The supinator is also involved in this condition, so check that muscle as well.
Our DVD, Heal Your Wrist Pain, covers all the tests for this. |
